In the Catholic tradition, the apostles are always held in very high regard and we tend to think of them as these super humans. Maybe they are portrayed this way so that we can relate to them and realize that even though we are sinners and doubters, we can still be part of Jesus' special inside group.

Perhaps those who prefer the traditional architecture feel a sense of something that is not familar to them, therefore are drawn to it. Curiousity for the grandure of traditional cathedrals stand out in any community in western civilization. Especially among those who do not fully appreciate for whom the grandness is honoring. The preference to contemporary worship is not suprising among young adults, they tend to prefer most things contemporary in society.

As I watch my parents growing older I remind myself that hopefully I will grow older too... therefore I try always to treat them with love and respect. I am seeing that "old age is not for those without courage".

Paulette G. made an interesting comment in Bible Class. She suggested that Mark may have been written from the perspective of one of the original disciples of Jesus. Say, one of the fishermen. For them, the beginning would be when Jesus called them right after he was baptized.

This corresponds to one very ancient tradition where the Gospel of Mark reflects the perspective of Peter. Is this what Paulette is sensing? Mark reflects the view of one of the first twelve.
