One can never learn enough about Jesus, who was himself the Greatest Teacher of them all. At Emmanuel we continue to learn our whole life long.
- Preschool
- Two-day and four-day classes for children age 3–5 from September through May. See the Preschool pages.
- Sunday School & Youth
- For children age 3 through grade 12 between worship services from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. during the regular school year starting the Sunday after Labor Day.
- Kids of the Kingdom
- A quarterly gathering that features activities and fun for children ages 3 to 12. Friends are welcome. For the schedule and more details go to the Happenings For Kids page.
- Youth
- There is a lively Youth Group which meets regularly several times a month for fun, service and learning. It is for all youth from junior high through high school. Click here for meeting dates and times.
- Windows of Faith
- A free, online study for young adults that includes topics like: “Who is God?” “Church and Community,” and “What is Your Calling?” Click here to download materials in PDF format.
- Adult Bible Class
- An Adult Bible Class meets weekly on Sundays in Room One between worship services from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. from September through May. During Fall 2008, Pastor Jaster will be addressing the theme “Vision for Mission.” The class will be immersing themselves in some of the great “mission texts” of the bible and exploring the work and ministry of the greatest missionary of them all—the Apostle Paul.
- Vacation Bible School
- A fun-filled week (Monday–Friday) during the summer for children age 3 up to and including those entering grade 5. Those who are of a sixth grade, junior high or high school age are invited to be aides and helpers. Our program is held in the evening.
- Confirmation Instruction
- Instruction in the chief parts of the Christian faith for youth who are in the 7th & 8th grades or older. Classes with the Pastor Jaster and Pastor Laurie Miller are once a month (usually on the second Saturday) from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon during the regular school year. Confirmation is on one of the last Sundays of May or early June at the completion of the student's second year.
- First Communion Instruction
- Emmanuel's children are instructed in the Sacrament of Holy Communion at the fifth grade level during the School Sunday hour over the season of Lent. They commune for the first time at evening worship on Maundy Thursday (the Thursday night before Easter).
- Pastor's Inquiry Class
- Persons interested learning more about the Christian faith as seen by Lutherans are invited to participate in a “Pastor's Inquiry Class” in which their questions are answered and a sweeping overview is given. These classes are flexibly arranged according to the time availability and interests of the participants. - Adult Retreat
- Each year we hold a refreshing half-day get-away for adults to grow in their own personal and spiritual life. It is held annually typically in February.
- Bible: Book of Faith
- The ELCA has begun a special five year emphasis on the Bible: Book of Faith. New materials are being developed all the time and are available from the special Book of Faith Web site. Check in frequently. There is some great stuff here.
- Trinity Academy for Congregational Leadership
- The Trinity Academy for Congregational Leadership is a program of courses that work together to provide a fuller understanding of theology and its meaning for Christians in today's world. Its purpose is to educate men and women in witness and service for the sake of God' mission, to equip people to be more effective in their congregations, and to inspire confidence in the variety of gifts being shared in the service of God' people. The Academy is sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Seminary and endorsed by the Northeastern Ohio Synod of the ELCA. Courses will be posted on the Happenings page.
- Radio Ministry
”Grace Matters“ is the radio ministry of the ELCA. The weekly 30-minute radio broadcast features a Christ-centered message which meets listeners where they happen to be in their lives, but not leave them exactly as they were found.
