Emmanuel uses a “blended” style of worship which incorporates a wide range of elements.

The primary building block of Christian worship is Sunday. Following the model of the early church, we gather around the preaching of the Word and the meal of Holy Communion at all services every Sunday (which in the Bible is called “the Lord's day”). Sunday has always been the primary day for Christians to gather because it was on a Sunday that Jesus rose from the dead. Every Sunday is a “little Easter.”

Worship at Emmanuel carefully follows the various church seasons of the Church Year so that across a year's time we tell the story of Jesus from beginning to end.

The musical settings and hymns come primarily from our church body's core worship resource called “Evangelical Lutheran Worship” which became available in October 2006.

The Scripture readings for each Sunday come from the Revised Common Lectionary, which is used by the majority of Christian churches in the United States.
